A Great Food Program For Missoula Preschools
I was in Missoula Montana and I came across a preschool that took a very active approach to keeping our kids healthy by implementing a healthy diet into their food program. Origins Preschool is one of the top performing preschools in Montana and even more impressive is how eco and health conscious the daycare is. This childcare facility cares for infants, toddlers all the way up to 5 year olds. I had a great time watching how the teachers of this school interact and play with the kids in a very fun and educational way.
Children all over America are being fed unhealthy food that contributes to health problems they encounter as adults. If we take the time to encourage healthy eating and get them used to eating more nutrious food, they will likely carry on the better eating habits into adulthood. The obesity problem in America starts with our kids. We as adults are responsible for our children. If so many parents are unwilling or simply are not aware of the harm we are doing to our kids by feeding them unhealthy food, we need the schools to get involved and try and leave some impact on the diet of our kids. Starting early with a good preschool that will feed organic nutritious food is a huge step in a good direction. The Missoula Origins preschool is on the right track with their efforts to keep America's kids healthy. If only more preschools to look up to this daycare as a shining example the very best daycare.

Limes and Lemons

Heal cuts and bruises, Prevent cancer and heart disease
You may not like tartness of lemons and limes, but back in the nineteen century people literally craved them, not for the tart taste but for remarkable health benefits these colorful fruits contain.
British sailors, for example, who typically spent months at sea without fresh fruits or vegetables, would drink lime juice to prevent scurvy, a terrible disease caused by vitamin C deficiency. And in California during the Gold Rush, when fruits were equally scarce, miners paid top dollar for lemons.
Of all nutrients we’re most familiar with, vitamin C is perhaps the most impressive. During cold season it’s always in demand, since it lowers levels if histamine, a naturally occurring chemical that can cause red eyes and runny noses. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant, meaning that it helps disarm powerful oxygen molecules in the body that contribute to cancer and heart disease. The body also uses vitamin C to manufacture collagen, the staff that glues cells together and is needed to help heal cuts and wounds.
The pulp and juice from lemons and limes are rich sources of vitamin C. A large lemon, for example contains about 45 milligrams of vitamin C, limes are also good, with s small lime containing about 20 milligrams of vitamin C.
There is more to lemons and limes than just vitamin C. These citrus fruits also contain additional compounds such as limonin and limonene, which help to block some of the cellular changes that can lead to cancer.
Limonene, which is found mainly in the colorful skin, or zest, of the fruit, has been shown to increase the activity of proteins that help eliminate estradiol, a naturally occurring hormone that has been linked with breast cancer. Limonene has also been shown to increase the level of enzymes in the liver that can remove cancer-causing chemicals.
Some innovative organic food companies add citrus zest to baking flower to provide added health benefits.
Whether you’re making a lemon meringue pie or simply adding flavor to store-bought lemon yogurt, be sure to add plenty of zest. The healing compound limonene makes up about 65% of oils in the peel. While fresh citrus peel contains the most healing compounds, dried lemon peel isn’t bad and you can find dried lemon peel in the spice rack at the supermarket.

Repairing Mitochondria, vital for Anti-Aging

Degenerated, cancerous cells can potentially be reversed back to normal cellular function by utilizing specialized enzyme-active nutritional substances and select vegetable and fruit hydrogen acceptors. These enzyme-rich nutritional substances include: Saccharomyces cerevisiae live fluid yeast strain, raw crystallized (freeze-dried) red beets and red beet juice, raw blueberry juice, bromelain (pineapple enzyme), raw pineapple juice, raw red grapes, raw red cherries, carotene (specifically beta carotene).
Please note that Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strain is not to be confused with Candida albicans! Unlike Candida, Saccharomyces cerevisiae live fluid strain exhibits no negative influence on human cells, and in fact has been observed to have an antagonistic effect against Candida albicans. Most orthodox medical practitioners, and even many nutritionists remain unaware and unappreciative of the far-reaching health benefits of live S. cerevisiae yeast. Additionally, we must seriously consider the utilization of specialized green foods. Excellent green foods include: Barley Grass powder, Kamut Grass powder and Sun Chlorella. For the most effective hydrogen acceptor, we utilize a specialized freeze-dried red-beet crystals. For herbal fortification, we utilize a very special liquid extract formula Essiac.
Greater cellular protection can also be achieved by utilizing a specialized low-molecular antioxidant compound Anoxe. Based on clinical observation and experience, Anoxe may be the Ultimate antioxidant compound, with high efficiency and great safety in restoring the ROS/antioxidant balance. Anoxe affords an anti-aging potential of scientific correctness, and is excellent for cosmetic enhancements, specifically for bad skin and wrinkles.
What You Can Do For You
A polluted, poisoned environment demands vital adjustments! Fortunately, we can, to some degree, accommodate our predicament by applying scientific and common-sense knowledge to ensure reasonable health and safety. We recommend seven very simple steps to help guide you in achieving a stronger immune system, and healthier body chemistry.
Step One: Get clean inside! Almost all Americans 35 years of age and older are carrying around, from 5 to 50 pounds of old mucoid plaque adhering to the inside walls of their entire intestinal tract! This mucoid plaque accumulates in layers. Many layers of this plaque creates an intestinal environment that absolutely ensures great potential for cancer development! An example: Virtually, all breast cancer "victims" are found to have a very unhealthy intestinal-flora!
We cannot over emphasize the importance of a clean intestinal tract. You may choose to ignore our suggestions in this article and allow yourself to retain a feces impacted colon, however, the day will come when your orthodox physician announces that you have colon cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, etc., and there is little to be done except get out the surgical knife! The medical surgeon will be very happy to remove your colon and your hard-earned cash, and laugh all the way to the bank!
YOUR IGNORANCE IS THE FOUNDATION OF A GROWTH INDUSTRY FOR THE ORTHODOX MEDICAL COMMUNITY, WHICH BECOMES RICH TREATING OUR NUTRITIONALLY RELATED DISEASES, INCLUDING CANCER! Unfortunately, safe nutritional advice is not given to the cancer patient. The orthodox medical practitioner ignores the subject of nutrition, and simply elects to surgically remove organs and limbs, and actually receives huge monetary compensation for performing these horrible mutilations! What a complete insult to human integrity!
For obtaining a wide variety of literature and books written on intestinal care, simply visit your local health food store. One particular book we recommend is: Dr. Jensen's Guide to Better Bowel Care (Dr. Bernard Jensen).
Step Two: Due to its crucial role in maintaining good health and your very animation, we must focus our attention on the vital pH factor in body chemistry. pH (potential Hydrogen) is the measurement of the acidity/alkalinity of anything. Our physical body has numerous and different pHs. Your urine is normally acidic. Your skin is acidic. Your saliva is slightly alkaline. Your stomach is strongly acid. However, of all the pHs in your body, the most important is your blood! The blood is normally at 7.45 pH, and if this deviates as little as 5/10ths of a point, death can be expected. Your body will steal minerals anywhere and anyway it can before it will allow your blood to go too acid. Your saliva is the first place your body steals minerals from to balance blood pH. Fortunately, saliva serves as a barometer, and provides us with an early warning system when we are becoming too acidic. In good health our saliva tests at 7.45. Below 7.45, we eventually experience an illness. At a saliva reading of 5.5 and lower, we will be experiencing a serious disease!
Virtually all cancer patients test strongly acidic on a saliva pH test! Cancer thrives in an over-acid body! It's very interesting to observe that acid producing foods (refined starches, red meats, refined sugars, cola drinks of all sorts, etc.) dominate in the American nutritional scene. To reverse this negative situation, simply discontinue eating these addictive health destroying foods, and gradually increase your intake of organically grown fruits and vegetables. Remember, "Let food be thy Medicine"
Step Three: Drink More Water! At the very minimum one full quart of water per-day! Hot weather demands 2-3 quarts of cold water everyday! It has been said that cellular-aging is due to a slow process of cellular-DEHYDRATION! Make sure that your water supply is clean and free from the typical pollutants that we encounter in civilization. In addition, we would do well to drink properly structured water. Yes, water has structure! Scientific research is providing increasing evidence to support that smaller H2O clusters, to be the most correct water for human consumption! Remember, No Water, No Life!
Step Four: Do not over eat! Over eating can kill you! Half of what Americans eat feeds them, the other half supports their doctor and the undertaker! Exercise your physical body everyday! Walking, dancing, yoga, running, swimming, wild sex! We don't care what your favorite exercise is, just do it!

Foods That Improve Vision
Foods that are good for the eyes. Individuals suffering from weak eyesight may consider the intake of foods that are good for eyesight and prolong healthy vision. Water should be one of the main constituents of a diet for eyes and clear vision. Water is an important part of the diet and enhances our bodily functions. A fluid balance is necessary to avoid problems like dry eye (a condition in which the tear glands limit the supply of tears to the eyes which leads to dry, itchy eyes). Also, our diet must include some of the following food considered good for eyes.
Diet foods that are good for eyes. Some of foods that are good for eyes can be listed in food groups. Including all these food groups in your daily diet will help in maintaining good eyesight.
Vegetables: Green leafy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, green beans, Brussels sprouts, celery, kale, leeks, mustard greens and peas are all considered excellent diet for eyes. Add some yellow pulpy vegetables such as avocados, sweet potatoes, squash, corn, and yams for healthy vision. Include carotene-based vegetables like carrots, cabbage and lettuce to your diet. Our body converts these carotenes into Vitamin A, which is an essential mineral for eye health. The lack of Vitamin A can result in eye infections and even night blindness. Eating carrots may actually reduce the risk of cataracts since they supply the individual with plenty of vitamin A.
Fruits: Some of the best foods for eyesight are fruits such as blueberries, persimmons, kiwis, guava, cantaloupe and apricots. Most of these fruits contain vitamin B and B complex. Citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, and limes contain healthy doses of Vitamin C.
Seafood: Oily fishes rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, sardines, and mackerel also improve weakened eyesight. Fish oil supplements may help to maintain healthy vision. However, the benefits accrued from eating fresh fish cannot be compared to these supplements.
Meats: Moderate portions of lean meats, poultry and dairy products such as milk, butter, cheese and yogurt are also food good for eyes. They provide the body with essential proteins and amino acids for muscle health. However, remember that these are fatty foods and an excessive consumption may lead to plague deposits, which restricts blood circulation. Healthy eyesight depends on unrestricted blood circulation to the delicate eye muscles.
A Mediterranean-style diet comprising plenty of vegetables, dried fruit, nuts and seeds, and foods cooked in olive oil is an excellent diet for eyes. Certain herbs such as dill, parsley, oregano and turmeric are also food good for the eyes. Foods such as garlic, onions, shallots and capers are also considered foods for good eyesight since they contain sulphur, which helps to promote age and disease fighting antioxidants in the body.

Fish Oil... The Good Fat
Fish oil has a high concentration of good fats, known as omega3 fatty acids. Whereas other dietary fats can cause weight gain, inflammation, and clogging of arteries. Omega3s modulate or lessen inflammatory responses. Inflammation plays a role in acne, psoriasis, eczema and cellular aging.
If it becomes chronic, it can eventually damage the elastic fibers responsible for the skin's strength and firmness. In other words, inflammation makes you look older. In one study, researchers found that after three months of supplementation, volunteers had a 10% improvement in the skin's firmness. Improved firmness means fewer wrinkles.
The better supplements provide natural vitamin E, as well. Vitamin E is important to the skin's health. Low levels in the bloodstream are associated with acne. The antioxidant activity of vitamin E and the omega3 fatty acids fight another cause of cellular aging. That cause is free radical damage. That means that the fish oil skin benefits include a reduction of aging caused by overexposure to the sunlight.
When you go out in the sun, UV radiation causes increased production and activity of free radicals. If there are not enough antioxidants present in the skin's cells, the radical molecules will eventually damage membranes and fibers. That leads to wrinkling, sagging and the other signs of age.
Now, suppose you just have a problem with dryness or itching. Those are common problems, particularly during cold winter months. The skin's natural moisturizer is produced by the sebaceous glands. It is called sebum. Sebum is primarily composed of fat. One of the first symptoms of fatty acid deficiency is excessive dryness, flaking and itching skin.
So, replenishing the skin's moisture content is one of the benefits of taking fish oil for skin, but not all of the supplements on the market will provide the same amount of benefits. Some oils have more anti-inflammatory activity than others. Some supplements do not contain vitamin E. In some cases, there is a very low concentration of omega3 fatty acids. Low DHA content is another issue.
Contamination is a problem with many supplements. Manufacturers are not required to test each batch for purity or freshness. Most of them don't.
The contaminants that may be present include mercury, lead and cancer-causing chemicals. The fish oil skin health benefits are great, but we are exposed to enough contaminants on a daily basis. We don't want them in our dietary supplements.
Many people complain because they experience fishy tasting burps after taking a supplement. The cause of that is oxidation. If the oils are not handled properly, a high degree of oxidation (spoilage) can occur.
The manufacturer should guarantee freshness and purity. They should promise that there will be no fishy tasting burps. If they don't, just choose another brand.
There are some excellent supplements on the market; it just takes a little research to find them.

Fat Burning Foods
Fat burning foods are sometimes refered to as negative calorie foods becuase they require more calories to digest then the nutritional value contained within them. Your body uses energy to digest food, if the energy used to digest them is higher than the energy contained in them, then they are considered fat burning or negative calories food. By eating these fat burning foods, more calories are lost than gained. Negative calorie foods can relieve the feeling of hunger when added to one's diet without greatly increasing total caloric intake. A diet consisting of negative calorie foods is unhealthy because the body will not get sufficient caloric intake. Fat burning foods are mostly fruits and vegetables. While not being true fat burning foods, lean protein rich animal foods are great for burning fat, your body requires more energy to process protein then carbohydrates. Fiber rich foods help you limit the number of calories consumed because they allow one to feel full thus preventing you from over eating. Some examples of fat Burning Foods Are the Following:
Fruit: Grapefruit, Mango, Papaya, Cranberry, Watermelon, Apples, Blueberries, Cantaloupe.
Vegetables: Green Beans, Spinach, Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Lettuce Carrot, Cucumber, Garlic, Onion, Radish, Turnip, Zucchini, Cauliflower, Celery, Hot Chili.

Yellow Vegetables Prevent Blindness

New research appearing in the journal Archives of Ophthalmology reveals that women with diets high in yellow vegetables have a lower risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Pigments found in pumpkin, corn, egg yolks and some leafy green vegetables were found to reduce the risk of AMD for women under 75 years old. The pigments lutein and zeaxanthin in particular were found to reduce the risk possibly by absorbing blue light that can damage the back of the retina.
Researchers at the University of Wisconsin examined the diets of 1,787 women 50 to 79 years old and took blood samples and color photos of their retinas. Women under 75 with diets high in yellow veggie pigments were found to have a lower risk of developing intermediate-stage AMD. However, the researchers could only prove a weak link between the pigments and advanced-stage AMD.
"This exploratory observation is consistent with a broad body of evidence from observational and experimental studies that suggest that these carotenoids (pigments) may protect against AMD," the researchers wrote.
"These findings further demonstrate the healing potential of plant-based medicine provided by nature," explained Mike Adams, a holistic nutritionist and creator of the Honest Food Guide. "Each color found in fruits and vegetables is actually a different medicine. While yellows and oranges are wonderful for nervous system protection, blues and greens offer anti-cancer benefits and cardiovascular protection. To be healthy and avoid disease, eat natural foods containing all the colors of the rainbow."
AMD is one of the leading causes of blindness in older people, but no cure has been found and those who develop the disease -- caused by deterioration of the back of the retina -- have only limited treatment options to slow its advancement. The researchers hope to find more conclusive evidence of the link in upcoming long-term, larger studies.
